Barletta Pontoons vs. Big Water with Sig Hansen

Barletta 101

It's a common misconception that pontoon boats can't handle big, open bodies of water. That pontoons are just meant for putzing around a calm lake—well, times have changed. The pontoons of this generation are equipped to handle rough, choppy conditions, and there's no better way to prove it than by putting them to the ultimate test.

To show just how tough our boats really are, the Barletta team spent a few days with none other than the legendary Sig Hansen, star of Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch. As captain of the Northwestern, Sig is no stranger to rough, icy waters and long months of crabbing in the harshest conditions. If there’s anyone who can put a boat to the test, it’s him!

Our patented ViP’s add a barrier between like metals to eliminate rattle and vibration. Comfort is key.

The team spent their time with Sig in his hometown, Edmonds, WA. Edmonds a small town right off the coast of Seattle. Washington gave the team the perfect weather to put the Lusso 23 M to the test – cold & windy. Wind speeds of sustained 10knots and gusting to 20knots in 3 to 5 foot sea conditions, the tri-toon handled the conditions like a champ.

"The boat performed WAY above my expectations," Sig remarked, clearly impressed. And if Sig's impressed, you know it's the real deal. Although, he said the biggest critic of them all is his daughter Mandy, who accompanies him on the Northwestern. After Mandy took the Lusso for a test run, she was also surprised with how smooth the Barletta handles the waters. “I know what I’m doing” was Sigs response, of course. If anyone knows their way around a boat, it's Captain Sig.

But it wasn't just about handling the waves. The Barletta Lusso showcased its speed, agility, and stability, proving that pontoons aren't just for lazy lake days, “It rolled over the waves, through the waves, and I didn’t get wet!” said Sig. They're built for adventure, for those who want to explore every waterway, no matter how rough.

As for Sig, he's not just a fan; he's hooked! When he's not battling the Bering Sea, you might just catch him cruising on his Barletta. Who knows? Maybe the next season of Deadliest Catch will have a new twist: Captain Sig navigating the choppy waters on his Barletta Lusso.

So, if you've ever doubted a pontoon's ability to handle big water, think again. Our Barletta boats are here to take on any waterway, whether it's a calm lake or the wild, open sea. It's time to break free from misconceptions and embrace the adventure.

We’ll see you out on the (open) water. 😉
